Dakota Johnson surprised fans after appearing at an event with the gap between her teeth gone — and some social media users have jokingly confessed to feeling too emotional over the recent change.
The 29-year-old actress attended the premiere for her latest film The Peanut Butter Falcon, which she stars alongside Shia LeBeouf, last Thursday.
But Dakota made headlines not for her role in the new movie, but for her decision to close the gap between her teeth.

Upset: Fans were quick to express distraught online over the change in Dakota’s smile
Time to call in: One person joked they would have to call in sick to get over the change
Sad day: Twitter was flooded with people reacting to the news
Fans were shocked by the cosmetic dentistry change from the actress and decided to voice their surprise on Twitter.
‘Woke up to find out dakota johnson no longer has her tooth gap, i’ll cry myself back to sleep,’ one distressed fan wrote.
Another person jokingly said, ‘dakota johnson’s front teeth gap …… she was the mother i never had. she was the sister everybody would want. she was the friend that everybody deserves. i didn’t know a better gap. i didn’t know a better gap!’
In previous interviews, including one with Vanity Fair, Dakota appeared to embrace the gap between her two teeth and would even demonstrate how she could fit items like playing cards in the space.
But she was apparently ready to say goodbye to the gap, and her attendance at the movie premiere was when the change was first noticed by the public.
‘While many of us at the Gap Tooth Administration are both shocked and heartbroken that we must part ways with Dakota Johnson in light of her decision to close her tooth gap, we are pleased to announce that Alexa Demie will be reigning over us moving foward,’ one fan joked online following the premiere.
Another person wrote: ‘Dakota Johnson doesn’t have her gap anymore and now I have no positive role models to look up to.’
Good humor: Dakota previously poked fun at the gap in a 2017 video for Vanity Fair , in which she showed all the things she could fit between her two front teeth
Surprise reaction: The actress was probably not expecting such strong reactions to her fixing the gap between her two front teeth
One fan even wanted to know if the change made by the actress would allow them to miss work.
‘Is grieving over dakota johnson fixing her tooth gap a valid reason to not work?’ The Twitter user questioned.
Dr. Matt Nejad, a Beverly Hills-based cosmetic dentist, told DailyMail.com about the potential dental procedures Dakota underwent to fix the small gap between her front teeth.
‘It looks really natural; they look like her teeth, just moved together,’ Dr. Nejad said, adding he thought Invisalign possibly helped close the gap. ‘You could close a gap like that in a few weeks with Invisalign.’
The good news about Dakota’s new look is that if she used something like Invisalign, it could allow for her to bring the gap back later in life.
‘Assuming it was Invisalign or bonding, it’s reversible,’ he said.
Dakota could be content with keeping her smile gap-free, but her mind might change following the amount it was discussed on social media.
‘Today I looked at this photo of Dakota Johnson and I thought: who is she? there are sooo many gaps need to be closed (gender equality, generational, income…etc) but not this one Dakota, NOT THIS ONE,’ one fan joked.
